Session Times

There are three different session times available in the nursery. There is a morning session, an afternoon session or an all day (30hour) session.

  • Morning session - 8.45am – 11.45am
  • Afternoon session - 12.30 – 3.30pm.
  • All day (30 hours) session - 8.45 – 3.30

Please note: A full week (all day, every day) at nursery amounts to 33 hours 45 minutes. We offer flexibility for parents that may choose to use the full 33 hours 45 minutes that we are open. Children who are entitled to 30 hours funding can either be taken out of nursery for one morning session and lunchtime per week or one afternoon session and lunchtime per week to avoid any charges.

Parents that require 8.45am – 3.30pm every day can opt to pay an additional charge. Please contact the school for more information on this.

At Rothwell Nursery School we provide a calm, stimulating and challenging environment both indoors and outdoors where children can learn and explore. The nursery is teacher led and follows the school’s ethos to ensure a smooth transition into school. Our aim is to develop happy, confident and independent learners that are curious about the world around them and enjoy coming to Nursery. We ensure our children have fun alongside their friends and that every child is supported by our caring and experienced staff.

In the Moment Planning

In nursery we use ‘In the moment planning’. This is proven to improve children’s well-being and involvement levels as the planning is centred around the children’s interests.

The adults will observe the children and spend time getting to know what they are interested in and this will enable adults to facilitate the children’s learning. Our environment is organised to enable this type of planning to work. The children are able to select their own resources and are encouraged to care for their own environment. As we follow the children’s interests we add in special events and enrichment days to enhance their learning.

We are very lucky to have an abundance of outdoor space, much of which is natural. We have our own planting area and forest school which the children have access to every day during our sessions. The outdoor space is available in all weathers and has been set up to promote curiosity, risk taking and independence. Once a week we have a session in the forest school site in the main school to enrich the children’s outdoor learning.

Collection and Contacts

We ask that you pick up your child as promptly as possible to allow staff time to prepare resources and attend meetings.

Please note that Nursery children may only be collected by adults, and we are not able to hand children over to anyone who is under 18.

Please ensure that the school office has up to date information (name, address, phone number, mobile number) for staff in case they need to contact you.  Please remember to let us know if you change your number.  Also, please make sure that we have at least one other person who we can contact if you are not available.  (Please make sure they liv
