Applying for a Reception Place
Step 1: Apply Through West Northamptonshire Council
Applications for Reception places are made through North Northamptonshire Council.
Application portal opens: September*
Application deadline: January*
Step 2: Submit Your Application by the Deadline
Please ensure your application is submitted by January*
If you miss this deadline, you will need to submit a late application using the same North Northamptonshire Council application system.
Step 3: Receive Your School Offer
National Offer Day: April*
You will be notified of your allocated school place on this date.

Moving Schools During the School Year (In-Year Admissions)
If you would like your child to join Rothwell Schools during the school year, applications must be made through North Northamptonshire Council's in-year admissions process.

Applying for a Nursery Place
Is Your Child Turning 3?
If your child is approaching their third birthday, or is already 3 years old, you can apply for a place in our Nursery.
Applying for Junior School
When your child enters Year 2, you can begin making your application for junior school.
Applications typically open in early September and close at the end of October. Late applications can still be made, although this may limit the schools available to you.
Applying for Secondary School
When your child enters Year 6, you can begin making your application for secondary school.
Applications typically open in early September and close at the end of October. Late applications can still be made, although this may limit the schools available to you.
Admissions Policy Juniors
Published Admission Number
The school has an agreed Published Admission Number (PAN) of 90 for entry in Year 3.
Oversubscription Criteria
Places will be allocated to pupils who have a statement of SEN or an EHC Plan that names the school as the appropriate provision.
When there are more applications for places than there are places available, priority will be given in the following order:
- Looked After Children and all previously Looked After Children (see paragraph 6.1 for definition of ‘Looked After Children’).
- Children of staff at the school, in either or both of the following circumstances: a. Where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time which the application for admission to the school is made, and/or b. the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skills shortage.
- Children with a sibling link (see paragraph 6.3 for definition of ‘sibling’) continuing at the school at the time of the admission of the younger child
- Children who have attended Rothwell Victoria Infant School.
- Children who live closer to the preferred school than any other school
- Other children
Tiebreaker
If the admission number is exceeded within criterion 4, priority will be given to those who live furthest from the nearest alternative school the school. If the admission number is exceeded within any other criterion, priority will be given to those who live closest to the school. Measurements are carried out in a straight line basis from the child’s home address to the address point of the school using NNC’s GIS System. In the case where multiple applications for the same shared dwelling occurs (e.g. Flats), a randomiser (will be used to decide the priority in which the pupils within the shared dwelling are selected in the event of a tie or where two distances are equal. The random allocation process will be subject to independent verification.
